Harmonized standards for all the cosmetics products have been finalized and forwarded to the National Standard committee (NSC) for final approval. The standards were finalized at a two-day meeting of technical committee on cosmetics held at Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) office. Dr Abdul Maalik, chairman committee headed the meeting which was attended by Secretary Ferozuddin, Director PSQCA's Department SDC Dr Shehzad Afzal, Deputy Director Asghar Ali, Assistant Directors Numan Khaliq, Muhammad Bilal, Chairman Pakistan Cosmetics Manufacturers Association (PCMA) Mian Muhammad Shafiq and all the stakeholders.

The meeting finalized common standards for hair oil, beauty cream, hair removing cream, moisturizing cream, nail polish and lipstick for the whole country and draft has been sent to the NSC for final approval. After the approval, common standards would be implemented for all the cosmetics products and no one would be permitted to sale and manufacture the illegal and sub-standard cosmetics product.

Chairman Committee Abdul Maalik said all the grievances of the stakeholders have been finished and the PCMA has assured its full cooperation in elimination of fake and illegal cosmetics from the market. After the final approval, no leniency would be granted to any of the company, he added.
